Support & FAQ
Why does the first launch say “First-time setup”?
On first launch, iOS compiles Vokalist’s on-device AI model for your specific device. This takes up to a minute, happens once per install, and makes every later session start instantly.
Why do vocals take a few seconds to disappear?
Vocal removal is computed in real time, starting from wherever you are in the song. When you first press play — or jump to a new part of a song — you may hear the full mix for a few seconds while the vocals melt away. That’s the separation catching up to you; it stays ahead once it does.
The lyrics are wrong or out of sync. What can I do?
Vokalist finds lyrics automatically and times them to your exact recording, but rare tracks, covers, and special editions can defeat the search. Tap the lyrics badge to retry, search the web for lyrics, or paste lyrics yourself — Vokalist will time pasted lyrics to the song automatically.
Can I sing to a TV or external display?
Yes. Connect via HDMI or AirPlay and Vokalist puts a full-screen stage — lyrics and visuals — on the big screen while the controls stay on your device. Audio plays from your device or speakers, so there’s no wireless audio delay while you sing.
Do I need headphones?
Headphones (or a speaker placed away from your microphone) give the best experience. Vokalist includes feedback protection, but physics still appreciates the help.
Where are my recordings?
In the song picker’s Recordings tab. From there you can play, share, or upload them to SoundCloud.
