Privacy Policy

MindArray ("we", "us", "our") develops Vokalist, a real-time karaoke app for iPhone and iPad. This privacy policy explains how Vokalist handles your data.

No Accounts, No Tracking

Vokalist has no user accounts and no sign-ups. We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs, and we do not operate servers that receive your personal data.

On-Device Audio Processing

Vocal removal, karaoke alignment, and lyric timing are performed entirely on your device using Apple’s machine-learning frameworks. Your songs and your voice are never uploaded for processing.

Microphone Access

Vokalist requests microphone access so you can sing along and record performances. Microphone audio is processed on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere unless you explicitly share or upload a recording.

Music Library Access

Vokalist requests access to your music library so you can pick songs to sing. Song audio is read and processed locally. Vokalist does not catalogue, upload, or share your library.

Lyrics Lookup

To find synced lyrics, Vokalist sends the song’s title, artist, and duration to the community lyrics database LRCLIB. No personal information, audio, or identifiers accompany these requests. Song identification for untagged files uses Apple’s ShazamKit, which operates under Apple’s privacy policy. Fetched lyrics are cached on your device.

Recordings

Performance recordings are saved locally on your device. Sharing via the share sheet, or uploading to SoundCloud, happens only when you initiate it.

SoundCloud (Optional)

If you connect a SoundCloud account to browse your likes or upload recordings, Vokalist authenticates directly with SoundCloud using OAuth. Your SoundCloud credentials are never seen by Vokalist or MindArray; access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. SoundCloud’s privacy policy applies to your use of SoundCloud.

YouTube Karaoke Browser (Optional)

The optional karaoke video browser plays official YouTube embeds. When you use it, YouTube/Google may process data under Google’s privacy policy. Vokalist adds no tracking of its own.

In-App Purchases

Vokalist offers an optional subscription (Vokalist Pro) processed entirely through Apple’s App Store. MindArray does not collect or have access to any payment information.

Data Storage

All app data — preferences, lyric caches, separated audio caches, and recordings — is stored locally on your device and can be removed by deleting the app.

Children’s Privacy

Vokalist does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date.
